Cabbage Soup with Smoked Pork Belly

Ingredients
- 200 g smoked pork belly
- 500 g cabbage
- 2 carrots
- 2 potatoes
- 1 yellow onion
- 1 tbsp butter
- 2 tsp syrup
- 10 allspice berries
- 1 bay leaf
- 15 dl vegetable broth
- some salt
- some pepper
Instructions
- 1. Cut smoked pork belly into small pieces.
- 2. Trim and cut cabbage into 2 cm pieces. Peel and dice carrots , potatoes and yellow onion .
- 3. In a pot , fry the pork belly pieces until they release fat and begin to crisp.
- 4. Add cabbage and onion to the pot with the pork belly and butter . Brown until they get some color. Drizzle syrup over and cook for another minute.
- 5. Add carrot and potato cubes, allspice berries , bay leaf and vegetable broth .
- 6. Simmer for 30 minutes .
- 7. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- 8. Serve with bread.
